Fibre channel switching

Designed as an entry-level solution, the SANbox 5800 products from Qlogic offer stackable fibre channel switches that enable businesses to create a powerful 8 Gbit/sec storage area network. The switches can be easily integrated into existing 4 Gbit/sec installations.

The switches have an additional four 10 Gbit/sec ports in addition to the twenty 8 Gbit/sec ports for combining individual models in the stack. This reduces latency when transmitting information. A licence key enables the port speed to be increased to 20 Gbit/sec.

Qlogic’s “pay-as-you-grow” system offers you the chance to adapt your network specifically to your current needs. You have the option of starting with a configuration of eight ports (there are a total of 20 ports available in the basic model). If your needs grow, you can activate batches of four inactive ports by means of licence keys. By expanding the stack to a maximum of six components, you have up to 120 ports at your disposal.

All of the systems include a single application that enables you to perform installation, configuration, monitoring, diagnosis and upgrades easily. The GUI is easy to use, and thanks to the wizard functionality, assists you in setting up and managing the products. Thanks to this user interface, integration and management are possible without the support of a SAN expert.
